Dear Classmates of the Class of 1973,

Here is the news you have all been waiting for: The Class of 1973 will celebrate its forty-fifth year reunion on Saturday, October 27, at the South Winneshiek Golf and Country Club in Calmar!

The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. President Paula Carlson and the Rev. Dr. Thomas Schattauer, will stop by early in the evening to bring greetings from the college. Cost per person is $30 and should be paid in advance when reservations are made. A reservation form is included in this mailing; reservations can also be made online at luther.edu/homecoming.

It’s hard to believe it has been 45 years since we walked across the stage to accept our diplomas. Life as we anticipated it as young graduates of Luther College may have gone exactly as planned, or it may have been marked with unexpected twists and turns, exciting opportunities and difficult challenges, and colored in both joy and sadness. Our reunion offers us the chance to embrace where we are in life today, as we reminisce about the time and experiences we shared at Luther. We will have the chance to renew acquaintances, celebrate lifelong friendships, and reflect on the place we called home for four years. Several classmates have already indicated plans to attend - we sincerely hope you will join us!

As always, Homecoming features a weekend full of events. In addition to Saturday’s parade and football game, and our reunion dinner on Saturday night, these two events are of special interest for the Class of 1973:

·  Classmate Deborah (Hafner) DeWinter will be honored with the Distinguished Service Award at the Alumni Dinner on Friday, October 26. Cost to attend the dinner is $30 per person and can be paid online when reservations are made.

·  There will be an informal gathering of the Class of ‘73 at the Pulpit Rock Brewing Company (located at the old laundromat, corner of College Dr. and 5^th Ave.) starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 26 to kick off our reunion weekend. We hope you’ll stop in for a while to catch up with classmates.

It’s always fun to play the “remember when” game during conversations at reunion gatherings - and photos help prompt those memories. Please send either one of us photos from our Luther days that we can share in a slideshow that will be showing during our reception time. If you have any other ideas for our reunion, please contact us and we will see what we can do to incorporate that into the evening.
