Hi there classmates!

Summer is done and the busyness of fall has started. Some of you still have kids in school, some have grandkids in school, some are in the years in between either of those … and for those of us lucky enough to still have parents around, our care and energies go in that direction more and more, as well.

We’re each in touch with our own handful of classmates and friends, I assume. Isn’t it amazing to think about the enormous range of things people are doing? Just in my own network, I’ve seen classmates and Luther friends….

· Bike 150 miles raising money for MS. Bike way more than 150 miles on RAGBRAI, in search of great pie and good beer across Iowa.

· Run a summerstock theater company. Produce a kids’ musical. Produce and perform in a cabaret show. Sing opera.

· Retire to that long-desired lake home. Host family and friends for fun times on and in the water. Enjoy a “drink of the day” during wind-down time.

· Canoe. Waterboard. Water Ski. Play tennis. Ride horses. Play racquetball. Play cards.

· Buy a Tesla. Buy a bike.

· Teach kids to do Scandinavian dancing. Call square dances. Teach piano lessons.

· Grow garlic. Make a chocolate ganache-covered cake. Make beer.

· Travel to the Philippines. Germany. Taiwan. Paris. Chicago. Decorah.

· Take in a Cubs game. A Jimmy Buffet concert. A Broadway show. A grandchild’s t-ball game.

·  Start a new job. Get a promotion. Choose a whole new path. Retire.

Lots of moving parts in our lives these days, and many, many stories to tell. Sharing those stories keeps us connected. These class agent letters are a form of connection as well – reminding us that our time at Luther forms the base of a connection that’s lasted many years now, and that Luther College, while it’s grown and changed just as we have, is eager to keep its connection with each of us.

If you haven’t done it in awhile, go on over to Luther’s website (luther.edu) and see what there is to see there these days. It’s all full of new faces, new technology, new ways of presenting itself to the world. But it’s oh so familiar, too. It’s our Luther College.
