Class of 1998 Summer 2018 Reunion Letter

Summer 2018

Dear Class of 1998:

Well, it’s about that time. Turns out - despite a mountain of evidence indicating it’s a bad idea - Luther really wants me to write a letter inviting you all to our 20-year reunion. To be clear, it’s a bad idea to let me write these letters (as you know). But it’s a FANTASTIC idea to invite all of you. So consider this your invitation. Now it’s time for the details. “But Doug, can’t we get this information directly from Luther?” Sure, and you can get a good look at a T-bone steak by sticking your head up a bull’s rear end, but wouldn’t you rather take the butcher’s word for it?!

Luther’s Homecoming weekend is October 26-28, 2018. The Class of 1998 will celebrate our reunion on Saturday, October 27 in the Winneshiek Ballroom located at Hotel Winneshiek in downtown Decorah. The reunion will begin at 6:30 p.m., with hearty hors d’oeuvres served at 7:00 p.m. The cost per person is $25 (which will most assuredly be a bargain considering the venue and the company) and should be paid in advance when reservations are made. A reservation form is enclosed. Or, if you can conquer your fear of the unknown, join the age of the internets and go to luther.edu/homecoming to complete your reservation. I’ve got some extra AOL disks laying around, if you need.

Perhaps you’ve been waiting for this day since our 15-year reunion.  Perhaps you’ve given it no thought whatsoever. Or perhaps you hate people, but love gatherings.  Regardless, we’re excited for a great turnout and a fun-filled evening. If you have any ideas you would like incorporated into the reunion, please let me know. You can email me directly at [email protected] (seriously). Just put “Doug, there’s no way I trust you to make these decisions” in the subject line (also seriously).

A few other details for Homecoming weekend:

· Our classmate, Kojo Amoo-Gottfried, will be honored with the Distinguished Service Award at the Alumni Dinner on Friday, October 26. Cost to attend the dinner is $30 per person and can be paid online when reservations are made.

· Our classmate, Todd Ancelet, will be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th during a ceremony at the Noble Recital Hall, Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

Just a reminder to check out the Online Alumni Directory at luther.edu/alumni/directory.  If you don’t already have a username and password, I’ve got to ask: What are you waiting for?!  It’s a fantastic way to stay in touch with our classmates. Call the Luther Technology Help Desk at 563.387.1000 and they’ll hook you up.

Looking forward to seeing you all in October.  Go Norse!

Doug Ross
