Class of 2019 Fall 2019 Letter

Fall 2019

Dear Class of 2019,

We hope this letter finds you well. It seems as though it was just the 26th of May at our commencement ceremony where many friends, family, classmates, professors, and staff celebrated with us over one of our biggest accomplishments to date. Now that you are a part of Luther alumni, you will be receiving a letter from us, Sadie Andersen and Becca Buse, each fall and spring. We are looking forward to writing to you twice a year to update you on all that is happening at Luther College.

Hopefully your first summer as alumni of Luther College was filled with time spent with friends and family, finding a new job, fun at Nordic Fest, and much more! As we grow into our new lives outside of Luther, we want to make sure that we don’t forget about all the exciting things still happening on campus. This summer, Dr. Jenifer K. Ward officially joined the Luther community as the eleventh president. She started at the beginning of July, but her official inauguration was November 2nd. As the Class of 2019, let’s wish her the best in leading our beloved alma mater.

It is hard to imagine that we will not be returning to the valley this fall, but instead be starting a new journey at another school, starting a new job, or still searching.

We would love for you to make a trip to Decorah soon. Anytime is always a great time to enjoy some Mabe’s, do some shopping downtown, pick up a new alumni sweatshirt in the book shop, and reconnect with friends at Pulpit, Toppling Goliath, and Dixie’s!

Before we know it, it will also be time to book tickets for Christmas at Luther. For many of us it will be our first time seeing C@L after performing in it all four years. This is a great opportunity to connect with friends at Luther, while also reflecting on time as students and musicians. Hopefully you are able to make it to see Whom Angels Greet with Anthems Sweet, December 5-8.

As you continue doing great things in the world consider recruiting future Norse. You can simply refer a student on the Luther website. Every student you refer will receive a $1,000 scholarship in your name each year for their four years at Luther. So spread all the Luther love!

We look forward to the amazing work you will do this coming year as an alum of Luther. If you are still looking for a job or further education, feel free to reach out to the Career Center. Just because we graduated from Luther does not mean that we are disconnected from the various resources on campus. Be sure to use your Luther network to support you along your journey! We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Go Norse!
