Sharon A. (Hilstrom) Johnson, 72, was received by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 15, 2016, after a very courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Indianapolis on Feb. 7, 1944, to Oscar and Clara (Braun). At age three the family moved to Chicago where she was raised. Sharon graduated from Taft High School in Jan. 1962. In 1966, Sharon graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a B.A. in Psychology. During her senior year she met her husband to be, Terry S. Johnson ’66. Sharon worked as an office manager at Fel-Pro in Evanston, Ill., from 1966-1968. Sharon and Terry married Aug. 10, 1968. While her husband served as Lutheran minister in Iowa she was a very supportive wife and a fantastic mother of her son (Chris) and daughter (Charla). Sharon was very innovative. She started her own business, a resale emporium in 1985. She also preserved the family pictures of her children as they grew by displaying them like a mural in the home and designed many other projects. Sharon worked for Mohawk Manufacturing in Niles, Ill., from 1986-2004. Sharon moved to Midland, Tex., with her husband in 2004 where she worked for Builders and Homeowners until her illness in 2014.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Terry; her son Christopher Johnson (Dr. Premila Singh), and her daughter, Charla Johnson Treanor (Kevin). She left behind her five well-loved grandchildren: Owen, Katie, Mia, Sophia, and Chase.

We thank God for her life as the pilot, navigator, motivator, and exemplar to her family. She was a humble Christian with a silent strong faith.

Burial will be in Strawberry Point, Iowa, with her husband after he joins her in the blessedness of Heaven and God’s presence.

Thank You to Hope Lutheran Church in Midland for your love and support. A special thanks to Hospice Midland, Visiting Angels, and lifelong friend, Carolyn Gimlich for being with her in her life’s journey.

Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland. Online condolences may be made at www.npwelch.com. Memorial donations may be made to the Johnson family, to be used at their discretion please.
