Sharon (Krueger) Warner, 78, of Gulfport, Fla., and St. Paul, Minn., died peacefully on March 15, 2015, following four years of treatment for appendiceal cancer.

Sharon was born in Estherville, Iowa, on Jan. 29, 1937, and adopted by Charles L. and Emma (Helmich) Krueger. The family lived in Ceylon, Minn., before moving to Buffalo Center, Iowa. Sharon graduated from Buffalo Center High School; attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.; and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She later completed a master’s degree in education at the University of Minnesota.

Sharon began her teaching career in Cincinnati, Ohio, and for many years taught English and journalism at St. Louis Park Senior High School, where she also served as a dean for several years before retiring in 1996. She read widely and enjoyed movies, quilting, cooking, and entertaining. She was a devoted and generous friend and a compassionate lover of animals, especially cats.

Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dean Berry; her parents; and her brother, Charles Krueger. Sharon is survived by her husband’s children: Gail (Jim) Haemmerle of Savage, Minn., Steven Berry of San Diego, Calif., Stanley Berry of Plymouth, Minn., and Matthew (Cindy) Berry of Island Lake, Wis., and their families; special nephew, David Krueger, of Jordan, Minn.; two nieces; and many cousins. She is also survived by close friends Mim Kagol of Deephaven, Minn., and Claire Hoyum of St. Paul, Minn., and many other dear friends, who also mourn her passing. Sharon’s family and friends wish to thank the staffs of the Masonic Cancer Center and the N.C. Little Hospice and the pastors of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Sharon’s life was held April 7, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, St. Paul, Minn.

Memorials are preferred to the St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation, St. Louis Park Dollars for Scholars, Friends of Strays Animal Rescue (St. Petersburg, Fla.), or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (St. Paul, Minn.).
