Gary Lewis Jacobson

Gary Lewis Jacobson, 76, of Pensacola, Fla., passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Gary was raised in Mobridge, S.D. He was the only child of Lloyd and Erna Jacobson. Gary was an excellent athlete lettering in football, basketball and baseball in high school and was on the baseball and gymnast teams at Luther College in Iowa. Gary played the piano and was gifted with a great singing voice. He sang at many weddings. He was also a member of a couple of Barber Shop Quartet groups that were well known in the Minneapolis regional area. I don't believe anyone sang “The Lord's Prayer” and “Danny Boy” better than Gary. Gary graduated from dental school at The University of Minnesota and was a highly respected dentist in the Minneapolis area for many years. He was the Team Dentist for the Minnesota Twins Baseball Team and the Minnesota Vikings Football Team. After selling his dental practice, Gary retired and moved to Pensacola. Gary loved living in Pensacola and playing golf year around. He was also an Artist at heart and enjoyed wood turning. Gary lived all his life with passion and great energy. Family gatherings were always more lively and entertaining once Gary arrived. No one could tell Ole and Lena jokes better than Gary and he loved laughing and trading barbs back and forth with friends and family. Gary was also one of the kindest, generous and most honest people you would ever know. He was devoted to his faith and always had soft caring heart for those in need.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jean Jacobson and her children, Travis and Ashley.

Memorial Service was held May 19, 2016, at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Wesley Wachob officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Living Trust at First United Methodist Church, 6 E. Wright St., Pensacola, FL 32501.
