Stanley Gerhard Jungck

Stanley Gerhard Jungck, after a short battle with cancer, died in his home on Saturday, March 5, 2016, in Big Rapids, Mich. He was 81 years old.

Stanley was born on November 11, 1934, in St. Francis, Kansas. He earned a B.A. degree in English from Luther College in 1956, and a M.A. degree in counseling from Purdue University in 1966. He married Annette Evangeline (Hardie) Jungck ‘56 on August 20, 1955, and in 1966, the couple moved to Big Rapids, Mich., where Stanley and Annette shared 57 years of marriage. After her passing in 2012, Stanley was fortunate to find love again. He married Carol Ann Wilson on August 15, 2014.

Stanley profoundly impacted others as a guidance counselor, both at Ferris State University and at gas stations around the country (the future is in plastics!). Among other philanthropic efforts, he served Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer and board member, and was a dedicated parishioner of Immanuel Lutheran Church. While frugal with himself, Stanley was known for his extravagant generosity toward others. He was an avid craftsman, gardener, and outdoorsman.

Stanley is survived by his wife Carol Wilson Jungck and her loving family; his brother Gerald Jungck; Annette’s siblings Diane (Robert) Kraemer, Robert (Marcie) Hardie, and Margaret (Russell) Young; his daughter Heidi Pickett and granddaughters Heather and Pearl Pickett; his son Mark (Lori) Jungck and grandchildren Anja (Miles) Drogseth, Hans (Jill) Jungck, and Ren (Mary) Jungck; his son Paul (Valerie) Jungck and grandson Hudson Jungck; his unofficially adopted daughter Tracy (Robert) Robbins; and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife Annette Evangeline Jungck and grandson Zion Jungck.

A memorial service was held March 12, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 726 Fuller Ave., Big Rapids, MI 49307. Memorials to the Healing Garden or Social Concerns Outreach of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
