Luther P. "Lewie" Lewer

Luther P. “Lewie” Lewer was born in Deforest, Wis., on February 26th, 1930, to the late Max and Edla Davidson Lewer. He found eternal peace on Tuesday June 14th, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and VA staff members in the Palliative Care Unit. He will be remembered and always missed by his loving daughter Tracy (Jeff) Spielman, his proud grandchildren Kelly, Allison and Emily Spielman and devoted companion Carol Lofye Lewer. He will be further remembered by his brother Max and his sister-in-law Shirley Lewer, other relatives, many nieces and nephews, dear friends and colleagues. He was proceeded in death by his sister Elaine (Bill) Pierce and brother James. Lewie served for over thirty years with the Elmbrook school system as a physical education teacher and coach. He was skilled in athletics and had a deep passion for all of his sports. Lewie will be forever remembered as “The Warrior.” Visitation on Wednesday June 22nd at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 West Capital Drive, Brookfield, WI in the Chapel of Chimes from 9:30am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am with Rev. Mark Wangerin officiating. Committal Service will be in the veterans section of the cemetery with full military honors. A special thank you to the good people on the 6th floor and the Palliative Care Unit at Veterans Hospital for their compassion and care.
