Tim David Christensen, age 52, of Luverne, died Feb. 19, 2017, at his home. He was born October 9, 1964, in Luverne, to Dwayne and Becky (Skattum) Christensen. Tim graduated from Luverne High School in 1983. In 1987 he received a degree in business from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He earned a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Mankato State University in 1996. In 2004, he earned his Master’s Degree in Education Technology from Dakota State University in Madison, S.D. He also completed his sixth-year Administrative Certification from St. Cloud State University in 2004.

Tim married Pam (Eidahl) Christensen ’86, on June 28, 1986, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple lived in Waukon, Iowa, before moving back to Luverne. In 1989, they moved to Albert Lea where Tim worked at But-Rite Oil. They moved to Claremont when Tim started working at Federated Insurance in Owatonna. In the spring of 1992, they moved to Luverne and Tim began working at Berkley Information Services. After receiving his teaching degree from Mankato State University in 1996 and in the fall of 1997, he began teaching fourth grade at the Luverne Elementary School, and coached ninth grade baseball and basketball. In 2005, he was hired as the Principal at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Schools. Tim became the Principal and Athletic Director at the Adrian High School in 2007. He loved trucking with his parents and hauling cattle. He also worked road construction with his brother Todd and children Stephanie and Matthew.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne where he served as Head Usher and on the Finance Committee. Tim was an avid sports fan. He loved attending his children’s games and coaching their softball, baseball and hockey teams. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, running, golfing and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Tim was part of the Minnesota First Five, Teacher Mentor program and a member of the Luverne Baseball Association. He was the Sub-Section 10, Region 3A AD of the year in 2012-13. Tim was awarded the Crystal Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2001. He was an umpire and referee for Luverne Community Education. Most recently Tim served on the MSHSL Region 3A Representative Assembly Delegate and Region 3A Co-Chair Committee member. He was a member of MASSP and NASSP. He served on multiple school and district-wide committees.

Tim is survived by his wife, Pam (Eidahl) Christensen ‘87, Luverne; three children, Stephanie (Tim Connell) Christensen, Luverne; Matthew Christensen ‘13, Chengxian, Gansu, China; and Cody Christensen, Eden Prairie; mother, Becky Christensen, Luverne; brother, Todd (Mary) Christensen, Luverne; two sisters, Amy (Barry) Cowell, Luverne; and Sue (Chad) VerSteeg, Luverne; father-in-law, Konrad Eidahl ’56 (Javonne), Emmons, Minn.; two brothers-in-law, Kyle Eidahl ’84 (Carol), Tallahassee, Fla.; and David Eidahl ’88 (Lynn (Gaudette) Eidahl ‘90), Delano; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dwayne; two infant brothers, Mike and Pat; mother-in-law, Barbara Eidahl, brother-in-law, Mark Eidahl; cousin, Nathan Skattum; paternal grandparents, Lester and Jo Christensen; and maternal grandparents, Orlando and Edith Skattum.

Visitation was at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. A memorial service was at Grace Lutheran Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Ron Nichols. Burial of cremains was in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
