Helen (Moe) Barth, 1958

Helen (Moe) Barth of Lindstrom, Minn. and Cozumel, Mexico, the only child of Julian and Ellen (Bilden) Moe, passed away Aug. 24, 2016. A memorial service was Sept. 3, 2016, at Wyoming Methodist Church in Wyoming, Minn. A portion of Helen’s ashes will be spread across the ocean water at their home in Cozumel, Mexico, April 9, 2017. At a later date, inurnment of a portion of Helen’s ashes will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah.

Helen graduated from Decorah High School in 1956, and attended Luther College in Decorah and the Minnesota School of Banking in Minneapolis. She worked at Marquette National Bank and Dayton’s in Minneapolis.

Helen married her high school sweetheart, William Barth ‘60, June 4, 1960. They both retired from Dayton’s in 1992; and much of their married life was spent in Lindstrom, Minn., enjoying life on the lake and at their winter island home in Cozumel, Mexico. Helen was an accomplished swimmer and loved swimming and snorkeling in the ocean. Helen and Bill enjoyed travel and visited many foreign countries during their married life. They were long-time volunteers at community and church events and Family Pathways, Ebenezer and did volunteer work on the island of Cozumel.

Helen is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Barth ‘60, daughter, Juliana Barth ’86 and friend Lane Schwarz ‘89, son John Barth ‘84 and wife Kathy, grandchildren Elizabeth and Matthew.

Helen Moe Barth
