Harlan T. Bakken, age 78, of Waukon, Iowa, died Dec. 27, 2016, at Thornton Manor Nursing Center in Lansing, Iowa.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date, in the spring 2017, at Decorah Lutheran Church.

Harlan’s wish was to donate his body to the Mayo Clinic Department of Anatomy in Rochester, Minn., for medical education and research.

Harlan is survived by his long-term partner, Dana Waters of Waukon; his daughter, Michelle Bakken of Denver; his son, Michael Bakken of Denver, and his son Christian Bakken; and two sisters, LeAnne (Bakken) Upward ’63 (Gerald) of Rockton, Ill., and Andrea (Bakken) James ’61 (Wendell) of Colorado Springs, Colo.
