George A. Schenck, 1953

George A. Schenck of Burlington, N.C., passed away on Jan. 3, 2017, at the Memory Care Center of Twin Lakes Community.

George was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 28, 1931, the son of George Schenck, Sr., and Grace Wardell Schenck. He was employed with IBM for over 25 years. George was a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He was an avid sailor and reader who loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was a Rotarian for many years and a life-long member of the Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Charlotte A. Schenck, of Twin Lakes Community; children, Alice Wolfe, Bill Schenck ‘78, David Schenck and Jean Glick; 17 grandchildren; and sister, Lois Torrey.

A memorial service was held at Twin Lakes Community in the May-Foley Chapel at 3801 Wade Coble Dr., Burlington, NC, on Jan. 7, 2017.  Officiating were Father Mark Menees and Father Richard Goeres. The family received friends in the Pepper Tree Café on the Twin Lake grounds.
