John Henry Meyer, 1943

John Henry Meyer passed away Dec. 13, 2016, in Houston. He was born in St. James, Minn., Dec. 19, 1922 where he attended elementary and high school. He was married for 46 years to his wonderful loyal Christian wife Dora Aponte Meyer of beautiful Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, where they spent many happy times at their home down there. He attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, from fall of 1940 to March 17, 1943.

In March 1943 he entered the U.S. Army during World War II and spent 27 months overseas in North Africa and ltaly. He was honorably discharged from the Army on Dec. 5, 1945.

He attended the University of Houston from January 1946 to January 1948 where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and he remained in Houston for the remainder of his years.

He is preceded in death by brothers Harold, Kenneth and sister, Evelyn Meyer Nelson.

Cherishing his memory are his wife, Dora; four sons: Robert, Randy and wife Pam, Jonathan and David; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, all residing in Texas. Also cherishing his memory are his sister, Ramona Meyer Christensen and husband Richard of Mankato, Minn.; sister-in-law, Rosella, widow of Kenneth of Burnsville, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
