Dr. Carroll “Hap” E. Jenson, 1943

Dr. Carroll “Hap” E. Jenson passed away on Sept. 7, 2016, six days after his 95th birthday. Born to a country minister and his wife in west central Minnesota, Hap was the third of six children. He graduated from Appleton High School, then continued his studies at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he met and married the Homecoming Queen, Sara Marie (Kahn) Jenson ‘44.

After serving with the Navy in the Pacific during WWII, he went on to study dentistry at the University of Minnesota. Hap was a longtime dentist in Bayport; served as the town's mayor; was a member of the Lions Club and the Stillwater Country Club; and was active on the Bayport Library Board, the board of First State Bank, and in his church, Bethlehem Lutheran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sherman Jenson ’41, and Maurice Jenson ‘48; his dear wife Sara (Kahn) Jenson ‘44; and his son, Peter. He is survived by his grandson, Miles Jenson; his sister, Lois Jenson ‘51; two brothers, James Jenson ’41, and Paul Jenson ‘48; nieces and nephews.

Services for Hap were held Oct. 8, 2016, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 490 N Fourth St, Bayport. Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran or the Bayport Public Library.
