Milford Norman Lunde, age 93, of Waukesha, Wis., passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Feb. 1, 2018, at The Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waukesha. He is now with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born on April 17, 1924, in Dodgeville, Wis., to Rev. Joseph Lunde and Mildred (Stange) Lunde. Milford received his bachelor of arts degree from Luther College and his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina. Milford worked many years at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., as a research scientist in parasitic diseases. He advanced the field and had various technical publications in the field. He served a year as president of Helminthological Society of Washington.

On April 26, 1950, in Charleston, W.V., he was married to Lucie “Bee” Bradley. Milford served in the Boy Scouts as scout master when his boys were growing up. He loved to strike up conversation with strangers wherever he went, and was always full of good cheer and life. He enjoyed many years of fishing and family time on Long Lake, Wis.

In retirement years, he loved spending winters on Padre Island in Corpus Christi, Texas, and taking walks on the beach. Milford was fun loving and enjoyed people everywhere he traveled. His life travels took him through 12 countries and 44 states. He was a long-time member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Kensington, Md., and later, Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, Wis.

Milford Lunde was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years of marriage, Lucie “Bee” Lunde. Milford is survived by two sons, Mike (Diane) Lunde of Pewaukee, Wis., and Jim (Susan) Lunde of Wauwatosa, Wis.; six grandchildren, Michael Lunde, Matthew Lunde, Lori (Lunde) Belford, Sara Lunde, Amy Lunde and Leslie Wagoner; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Appleyard’s Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, Wis., on Feb. 8, 2018. Funeral Services were on Feb. 9, 2018, at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Sarona, Wis. Memorials can be made to Long Lake Lutheran Church.
