Allan G. “Pete” Pederson, of Lake Mills, Iowa, passed away Dec. 11, 2017, at Muse Norris Hospice Unit in Mason City, Iowa, with his loving family by his side.

Funeral service was Dec. 15, 2017, at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S Lake Street, Lake Mills, IA 50450, with Pastor Joel L. Guttormson officiating. Visitation was at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, IA 50450. Burial took place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa. Allan Gene “Pete” Pederson, was born April 11, 1937, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Glen Edward and Nora Alvina (Shelwick) Pederson. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Scarville, Iowa. He graduated from Scarville High School in 1955.

He later graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 1959 with a degree in business. He joined the Army Reserves after college.

He was employed at both Scarville and Thompson Elevators. He was business manager at Thompson Elevator for 35 years retiring in 2003.

Pete loved all sports, playing fast-pitch softball for Trades and Labor in Albert Lea for many years. He received Freeborn County Softball Hall of Fame in 1997.

On Feb. 11, 1972, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Sanden Thune. The couple made their home in Lake Mills where they raised their children.

Pete loved golf, fishing and collecting coins. The family spent many summers staying a week on Cass Lake, Minn. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his beloved granddaughters.

Survivors include his loving wife Marilyn; son Jeff and his wife Erin Pederson and their daughters Nora and Gracie all of Lake Mills, Iowa; a grandson Michael Thune of St. Paul, Minn.; his sister Kayla (Pederson) Wieme ’61 and her husband Jim Wieme of Rochester, Minn.; and a special cousin Curtis Reiso ‘54 of Decorah, Iowa; sister-in-law Carol (Dale) Gurwell of Clive, Iowa; brother-in-law Gary (Deborah) Sanden of Centre, Ala.; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, children Joan, Julie and Jim Thune and many aunts and uncles.
