Spring 2018 (May 18, 2018)

Lavonne (Christensen) Larsen was born Feb. 28, 1935, to Rev. R.M. and Myrtle Christensen in South St. Paul, Minn. Her father was a Lutheran pastor, and the family moved around the midwest several times as Lavonne was growing up. She completed High School at Augustana Academy and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 1957. She married Jack Larsen in 1959, whom she had met while working at a summer camp. After living in Moorhead, Minn., for several years, Lavonne, Jack and their family moved to Bellevue. They moved to their home on Mercer Island in 1968.

While living on Mercer Island, the family were active members of Holy Lutheran Church. Lavonne managed their dental office in Bellevue for many years. She volunteered at the Columbia Lutheran Home in Seattle and spent countless hours at the Beach Club with the kids during the summer months.

Lavonne and Jack enjoyed spending time with friends, golfing and vacationing. They both were very involved in the lives of their five grandchildren.

Lavonne died on Feb. 20, 2018, due from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Jack in Sept. of 2016. She is survived by sons John, Eric and his wife Leigh, and Paul, grandchildren Jordan, Kelly, John Patrick, Austin and Matthew.

The family extends great thanks to the many longtime friends who supported Lavonne, especially over the past several years. A Celebration of Lavonne’s life was held at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellevue, Way NE, on March 24, 2018.
