John A. “Jack” Stueber

John A. “Jack” Stueber, age 87, of Austin, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2018.

Jack was born on July 14, 1931, to Arthur and Edna Stueber in Red Wing, Minn. He lived in Red Wing during his childhood and elementary school years, later moving to Goodhue, Minn., where he completed his high school education. In 1953, Jack graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After graduation, Jack joined the United States Army, serving two years in several locations including Italy. Completing his military commitment in 1955, he was hired by Cities Service Oil Company in St. Paul, Minn., as an accountant. He married Beverly Olson of Starbuck, Minn., in 1957, and they made their home in White Bear Lake, Minn. Two daughters, Julie Ann and Cathy Jean, were born during this time. During his 38 years with Citgo, Gulf, and Chevron, Jack relocated several times, eventually retiring in 1992 to Austin, Texas.

He was a skilled carpenter, an expert stained glass craftsman, a proficient electrician, a creative landscape designer, and to the dismay of his dermatologist - a lover of the beach.

Jack developed many treasured friendships through his church, and served in various capacities - greeter, handyman, usher, choir participant, and committee member.

Jack loved God deeply, gave faithfully, served others selflessly, and adored Beverly.

Jack was preceded in death by his father, mother, father-in-law Roy Olson and mother-in-law Oselia Olson of Starbuck; step-father Pete Allers, and brother Al Allers, both of Goodhue. Jack is survived by his wife Beverly, of Starbuck, Minn.; brother Bud Allers and sister-in- law Beverly; and sister-in-law Shirley Allers. He is also survived by daughter Julie Jackson and husband Terry Jackson, and daughter Cathy Hall and husband Doug Hall. Others left to cherish his memory are grandchildren Crosby Gustafson, Jett Jackson, Justin Jackson, Parker Hall and wife Jessica, Janie Page and husband Miller; great-grandchildren Pierce Hall and Selah Page; five nieces and a nephew; several great nieces and great nephews; and eight "grand dogs" that Jack loved to secretly feed under the dinner table.
