Steven LeRoy Haagenson

Steven LeRoy Haagenson passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2019, at Hospice of the Valley in Arizona after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Steve was born to S. LeRoy and Donna Haagenson on June 28, 1956, in Rochester, Minn.

Steve lived in Chatfield with his family and attended school there. While in school he participated in sports, including football, basketball, baseball, and golf.

After graduation, Steve spent some time at Luther College and East Tennessee State. Steve’s passion was golf and he moved to the Twin Cities and began his professional career. He worked at several golf courses and was named President of the PGA Minnesota Section in 2003. A thirty-six year member of the PGA, Steve worked at Wayzata Country Club, Timber Creek Golf Course, and BearPath Golf & Country Club. Steve was bestowed the Section’s highest honor, Golf Professional of the Year in 2004.

Steve was not fond of cold weather and decided to move to Arizona where he continued his professional career at Tonto Verde Golf Course. Steve loved the game of golf, but his greatest enjoyment came in helping others. Steve touched many lives and had a huge passion for junior golfers. Steve was able to realize his dream and do what he loved until his health started failing due to early onset Alzheimer’s. Steve is survived by his step-daughter, Andrea Beagle Danner, as well as her husband (Kyle) and son (Jackson); his siblings Sandra Haddock of Jacksonville, Terry (Kathy) Haagenson of Chatfield, and Suzanne (Richard) Olive of Mantorville; nieces Kelly, Kim, Rebecca and nephews Michael, Timothy, as well as several great nieces and nephews and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and nephews Joseph, Douglas, Kevin and Zeb.

A Memorial Service for Steven was be held at Chatfield Lutheran Church on Fri., Jan. 3, 2020.
