William “Bill” Charles Beyer

William “Bill” Charles Beyer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, Bill Beyer, age 75, passed away unexpectedly in his St. Paul home on Feb. 4, 2020. He will be dearly missed by his wife Margareta; children Kerstin Beyer Lajuzan (Aimeric Lajuzan) and Emma (Eli) West; grandchildren, Nils, Felix, Astrid, and Alma.

Bill was a proud Luther College graduate who went on to receive his Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Minnesota. He served as Director of Education, Collections, and Programs at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis after twenty-five years as an administrator and graduate faculty member at the University of Minnesota. In retirement, he was a devoted grandfather and gave his time to many causes that he cared about deeply. There was nothing Bill enjoyed more than people and good stories. A celebration of his life was held at the American Swedish Institute on Sun., Feb. 23, 2020, with coffee and conversation followed by stories, poetry, and music. If you are moved to remember Bill with a gift, consider the American Swedish Institute, International Rescue Committee, Islamic Resource Group, or Luther College.
