Dorothy “Lynn” (Proudfoot) Zemke

Dorothy “Lynn” (Proudfoot) Zemke, age 78, of Clare, Mich., passed away peacefully on Mon., May 6, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. She was born to Boyce and Lucille (Andrew) Proudfoot on August 9, 1940, in Detroit. She graduated from Detroit’s Cody High School and went on to attend Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where she met her husband George Zemke ‘60. Lynn and George were united in marriage on June 12, 1962, in Detroit and the couple enjoyed nearly 57 years of marriage together. She was a proud member of the Clare Church of the Nazarene. Lynn was a woman of many passions that included gardening, reading, sewing, traveling, Bible studies, and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Lynn is survived by her husband George Zemke ‘60, sister Corinda Brown, son Keith Zemke, and daughters Kristin Fuller and Julie Durkin. She is also survived by her grandchildren Sondra (Robb) Alverson, Andrew Johnstone, Joshua Fuller, and Paul and Matthew Durkin, her great grandchildren Duncan and Tucker Alverson, her nephew Tom (Jennifer) Brown, and her niece Janis (Brian) Bowman. Lynn was also “Nana” to many dear church friends and their children. She will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents Boyce and Lucille Proudfoot.

A funeral service in honor of Lynn took place on May 9, 2019, at the Clare Chapel of the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Fall officiating.
