Constance Rae “Connie” (Blunt) Nelson

Constance Rae “Connie” (Blunt) Nelson, age 83, of Bloomington, Minn., went home to heaven June 7, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family.

Connie grew up in Mason City, Iowa. She attended Luther College where she met her husband Darrell Nelson ‘54. They moved to Minneapolis where she was Communications Specialist for Central Lutheran prior to adopting and raising their kids. She later was Christian Education Director for Grace Lutheran, and in retirement worked for Project Kids.

She was a wonderful mother who made the best birthday cakes, enjoyed cooking, sewing, decorating and entertaining. Connie was an active member of Christ the King where she taught Sunday school and confirmation, was a Stephen's Minister, and made many lifelong friends.

She is preceded in death by husband Darrell Nelson ‘54; parents Glen and Evelyn Blunt; survived by children Andrea Notman (Richard), Paul (Karen), Christopher, and Julie (Dave Kremer); granddaughters Annika Maus (Corey), Marit Hansen (Kyle) and Rebecca Notman; great-granddaughters Savannah and Charlotte Maus; sister Deanna (Blunt) Roen ‘61 (Ken Roen ‘60); many other family and friends.

We give thanks to God for the time we had with her. Service was at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington on June 13, 2019. Memorials preferred to Christ The King or Lutheran Social Service.
