Rebecca “Becky” Lynn (Soli) Simonson, 64, of 545 Fitzgerald Place NE, Owatonna, Minn., passed away on Dec. 22, 2020, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 29, 1956, in Granite Falls, Minn., the daughter of John and Olive (Winkel) Soli.

Her family lived in Sacred Heart where her father was a Lutheran minister for four churches. Her family moved to Lemond where her father served Pontoppidan and Hope churches. She attended country school (District 2137) through 6th grade and junior high in Owatonna. The family then moved to Harmony, Minn., where her father served Big Springs and Granger churches. She graduated from Harmony High School in 1974. She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in May 1978 with an Accounting major and Economics minor.

Becky moved to Owatonna to become a Computer Systems Developer at Federated Insurance on June 5, 1978, and retired in March 2016 due to health problems. She had Multiple Myeloma for nine years and had acquired heart and lung problems due to the chemo.

On Aug. 21, 1982, Becky married Larry Simonson in Owatonna at Our Savior's Lutheran church. They were introduced to each other by Larry's sister Gail who played softball with Becky. They were blessed with two daughters; Amanda (Benjamin) Stockwell and Corrine (Sean) Skerping. They were also blessed with four grandchildren; Amanda and Ben's three daughters Ella, Sophia, and Josephine, and Corrine and Sean's son Henry. Corrine and Sean are expecting another child. Larry and Becky had the joy of sponsoring four children through Compassion International; Rajimol (India), Amando (Ecuador), Marlon (El Salvador), and Maurine (Tanzania). They are very much our family too.

Larry and Becky played 500 in a couple's card club for 32 years, which is on hold now due to the Coronavirus. Becky was a long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and volunteered for many events and committees. She loved doing cross-stitch and knitting. She loved playing softball and volleyball in younger days. Larry and Becky were very involved in their grandchildren's lives; doing babysitting, attending events, and spoiling them with gifts and trips. She enjoyed annual trips with her siblings.

Becky is survived by her husband, Larry, daughters, Amanda and Corrine and their husbands Ben and Sean, and four grandchildren. She is survived by her six siblings; Alan (Nancy) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richard of Rochester, Nancy (Joe) Mollner of Forest Lake, Chris of Phoenix, and David (Bill Margolis) of Minneapolis. She is also survived by Larry's siblings; Gene (Mary) of Rochester, LaVerne (Barb) of Eagan, Ronald of Lakeville, Douglas (Connie) of Rochester, Gail Drube of Shoreview, and Brian (Margaret) of Rochester. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Jacob Simonson along with several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, LaVonne Simonson, and brother-in-law, Joel Drube. Services will be held at a future date to be determined. Memorials preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran, Transitional Housing, or Compassion International.
