Sharon Kay (Rose) Rendack, of Davenport, Iowa, died March 10, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a short illness.

A graveside service at the Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa, will be held later this spring. Sharon was born Sept. 5, 1949, to LaVerne and Betty (Stolle) Rose. She graduated from Postville (Iowa) High School and Luther College. She also earned Masters’ degrees from UNI (library science) and St. Mary’s University-Minnesota (counseling).

Sharon and Jim loved to travel, naming their dogs after their favorite destinations (Salzburg, Aruba, Cayman, and Sedona). During the pandemic Sharon was planning for future vacations, making note of “good hotels near train depots” and ordering AAA travel guides. After her husband’s death in 2015, Sharon moved to Decorah, to live with and care for her mother. She became involved at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and as a docent at Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum. She enjoyed participating in Nordic Fest activities. In 2018 Sharon and Betty moved to Davenport, Iowa, to live closer to Jayne and her family. During the past years Sharon greatly enjoyed spending time with her great-nephews & -nieces. She enjoyed backyard kickball games in which her position was permanent pitcher. Preceding Sharon in death were her husband and her parents.

She will be greatly missed by her sister, Jayne Rose, and brother-in-law, Dan Dickens; her nephews Joseph Dickens (Kate Brieger) and Michael Dickens; her niece Abigail Dickens (Jordan Escontrias); her great-nephews Elijah and Julian and her great-nieces Lila and Isabel; as well as many extended family members and friends.
