David A. Chellevold, age 79, of Mount Horeb and formerly of Darlington, died from Covid-19 on Dec. 15, 2020, at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born March 9, 1941, in Viroqua, Wis.  The son of Otto and Mildred (Hoffland) Chellevold. He married Sheryl Bloyer on Nov. 23 1968, in Ashwaubenon, Wis. Dave taught and later became principal of Darlington High School in Darlington. Upon retiring from that position, he taught at UW Platteville.

He is survived by his wife Sheryl “Sheri” Chellevold of Mount Horeb, a daughter, Jody Chellevold of Mount Horeb. Two sons; Chad Chellevold of Westfield, Ind., Doug (Tamara) Chellevold of Menomonee Falls. Eight grandchildren: Morgan, Carson and Abbey Brummer, Jake and Cole Chellevold, Johnny Strand, Evan and Sofia Chellevold. One brother, Larry Chellevold ’65 (Karen (Aaker) Chellevold ’65) of Tucson, Ariz. He is also survived by honorary sons Larry (Teri) Green of Blanchardville, Wis., Julio (Patricia) Daud and Renato (Gigi) Daud of Asuncion, Paraguay.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ronald Chellevold, Dean Chellevold, a granddaughter, Kailyn Brummer.

Due to Covid-19 and restrictions a private funeral service for the family at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Horeb, with a Celebration of Life services to be held at a later date.
