Richard Dale “Dick” Rud, 1961

Richard Dale “Dick” Rud of Allen, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born on Oct. 10, 1939, to Oscar Nickolie Rud and Josie Amanda (Ness) Rud in Salem Corners, Minn. Dick attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. He married Julaine Marilyn Senjem “Jill” on July 29, 1961, in Rock Dell, Minn., at East St. Olaf Lutheran Church. They were looking forward to celebrating 60 years together this July.

Dick was a teacher and a football coach in Appleton, Wis., before joining the paper and packaging industry in the late 1960’s. Dick founded Rud and Pickarts Marketing Co., a manufacturers rep firm in Plano, Texas, in 1979. Over the years, Dick developed many friendships and valued relationships in the industry that he maintained through retirement. He retired in 2009 but enjoyed going to the office each day to keep current with what was happening in the business which now has the third generation of Ruds working there. He was an amazing Grandfather who truly enjoyed his relationships with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved gardening, telling jokes and was a true people person that could make friends anywhere.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jill Rud of Allen, Texas; sons, Eric Rud and wife, Jenell of Allen, Texas and Bart Rud and wife, Jennifer of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Kristen Mills and husband, Scott of Murphy, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Dustin Rud and wife, Jennifer of Allen, Texas, Nick Rud and wife, Kelli of Allen, Texas, Thomas Rud and wife, Kara of Princeton, Texas, Erica Seward of San Antonio, Texas, Emma Rud of Allen, Texas, Emily Rud of San Antonio, Texas, Erica Rud of San Antonio, Texas, Matthew Mills of Nevada, Texas, Lexi Clark and husband, Matt of Fate, Texas, and Andrew Mills of Murphy, Texas; and also five great-grandchildren, Reese, Jarrett, Charli, Asher and Colt. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Josie Rud; four brothers, Ellsworth Rud, Aden Rud, Joel Rud and Herb Rud and his sister, Florence Huggins.

A memorial service will be held June 19, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel.
