John “Jack” Schultz, 1956

John “Jack” Schultz, 89, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Dec. 28, 2020, at Western Home Communities Nation Cottage of natural causes. Jack was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Postville, Iowa, the son of Cloy & Viola (Weihe) Schultz. He married Patricia Ruckdaschel on June 14, 1952, in Postville. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Jack attended Luther College and was inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1975. He was an educator and coach in the Cedar Falls School System from 1956 to 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; one son, Jeffrey Schultz of Delta Junction, Alaska; his daughter-in-law, Vicki Schultz of Eagle River, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Jesse Schultz, Colton Schultz, Jacob Schultz, Sayard Schultz, Keegan Bernier, Brittany Hrgovic, and Joshua Schultz; and his sister, Rochelle (Noel) Cook of Postville.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Craig Schultz, a grandson, Elijah; his brothers, Cloy, Jr., Grant, and Byron and his sister, Carole.

Services are being planned for a later date with military graveside rites in Greenwood Cemetery.
