Quentin Silberstein, 1991

Quentin Silberstein, age 53, of Slater, Iowa, passed away Jan. 8, 2022, at UnityPoint Health – Methodist Campus in Des Moines.

Visitation was Jan. 13, 2022, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 411 3rd Ave., Slater, Iowa. Funeral services were Jan. 14, 2022, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Slater Cemetery. The church asks that those attending all services, and are not vaccinated, please wear a face mask.

Quentin was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Aug. 4, 1968, the son of Roger and Patricia (Kingsbury) Silberstein. In 1987, he graduated from East Buchanan High School, Winthrop, Iowa, and then Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1991. Quentin participated in football and wrestling and was a member of the Pi Sigma Omicron Fraternity at Luther.

Quentin was united in marriage to Patsy Pedersen on Oct. 15, 1994, in Gowrie, Iowa. They were blessed with twin boys, Alex and Adam in 1996. In Oct. 2002, they moved to Slater. Quentin was a forklift operator for 20 years at Amcor in Ames and for the past year he has been employed as a street worker for the city of Ames.

Quentin enjoyed fishing, hunting, wrestling, football, gardening, canning and cooking, which he was known for the “Quentin Surprise.” He loved his family and especially enjoyed being a grandfather as of Aug. 2021.

Quentin is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patsy Silberstein of Slater; son, Alex (fiancé, Olivia Wattonville) of Ankeny, Iowa; son, Adam (Saylor) Silberstein and their daughter Maeley of Collins, Iowa; sister, Maureen (Silberstein) Awtry ‘93 (Jim) of Montezuma, Iowa; brother, Scott Silberstein ‘87 (Lynn) of Solon, Iowa; sister-in-law, Tammy Silberstein of Independence, Iowa; father and mother-in-law, Kenneth (Betty) Pedersen of Gowrie, Iowa; sister-in-law, Teresa (Craig) Van Loon of Ankeny, Iowa; brother-in-law, Mike (Amy) Pedersen of Lenexa, Kan.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Samantha Silberstein; sister, Zerin Silberstein and brother, Shadron Silberstein.
