Thomas O. Lee, 84, of Saint Paul, died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 9, 2022.

Tom grew up in Williston, N.D., and attended Luther College, where he met and married Jo Ann (Egertson) Lee ‘59, the love of his life. Following graduation from Luther in 1959, Tom attended Luther Seminary, graduating in 1963. He served as a pastor in congregations in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.

Tom and Joie retired in Red Wing, prior to moving to the Twin Cities. Tom loved to travel: China, Central America, South Africa, and throughout Europe and the U.S. The cabin in Cumberland, Wis., made every summer an enduring celebration. Each of his grandkids believed they were his favorite – and he did nothing to dissuade them.

Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann (Egertson) Lee ‘59; parents, Oscar and Alice (nee Helle); and brother Robert Lee ‘55. He is survived by his children Hans Lee ‘83 (Nancy (Nickerson) Lee ‘82) of Minneapolis, Elizabeth (Lee) Klein ‘84 (Paul Kwiecinski), Paul Lee ’87 (Tobie Vickers-Lee ‘87), and Kristin (Lee) Ulland ‘91 (Hans Ulland ‘91), all of Saint Paul; brother John Lee ’67 of Duluth; grandchildren Daniel Lee ’08 (Anna), Lars (Alexandra), Marcus, Eric Klein ‘14 (Allison), Kyle Klein, Odin, Zoe Lee ‘23, Anders, Mette, Osa Ulland ‘23, and Espen; great-grandchild, Otto; and dear friend, Carolyn Nordin.

A Celebration of Life was held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Saint Paul on March 12. Memorials to Luther College, Luther Seminary, or Gloria Dei.
