Day One in Salzburg!

Senior piccolo player and flutist, Brenna Sherman, writes about our first day in Europe:

Seven hours on a plane doesn't seem so long when you're with some of the best musicians from Decorah, Iowa! But, we landed in Munich, Germany; seven hours ahead of North America time and seven hours deprived of sleep.

We then took the bus to Salzburg, Austria-- which translates to Salts Castle! Our tour guide's name is Ulrike Danniger, and even though we've only been here for less than 24 hours, she has brought the city of Salzburg alive for us teaching us sweet--not salty-- facts about this wonderful city.

On our way to the St. Peter Monastery, where we ate a delicious dinner surrounded by guilded statues and detailed frescas, we viewed a small portion of the city that we will be exploring tomorrow!

We are beyond excited to visit the Hohen Salzburg Castle, some of the sights from the Sound of Music Musical, and Mozart's birthplace! Can't wait to see more of Salzburg!
