Review planning for summer session staffing

Reviewed the schedule for providing research help during summer session. Using existing input, Andi and Germano will draft a schedule for the group to review.

Budget and allocation updates

John presented information on next year’s projected budget, reflecting what have become standard increased costs for serials and electronic resources. Discussion followed regarding usage data and various approaches to collection development. John and Andi will work on language to alert department heads about corresponding new library liaison assignments.

Report from department heads meeting

Paul provided an update to the group from the department heads meeting. Topics included: new software in the book shop, retirement planning, the growing International Studies program, Paideia, and Admissions status reports.

Software requests

Rebecca and Diane presented purchase requests for academic software.

Preus certified mug recap

Jennifer presented information about the initial distribution of the Preus Certified Mugs, including various initiatives including National Library Week, Senior Paper Tips, and the Paideia portion of the Research Symposium. These types of initiatives will re-launch in the fall using mugs as a means to foster library engagement within the Luther community.

Report from print reference group

John shared information regarding the use of print and electronic reference materials as obtained through RefStats, reshelving counts, and selected Paideia bibliographies. This informed a decision not to the electronic conversion of selected titles we already owned in print. Conversation about usage data for both print and electronic collections is on-going.
