Patricia (Mosbo) Meckstroth, 1964

PATRICIA (MOSBO) MECKSTROTH of Bloomington, Ill., died May 6, 2012, at age 69, at her home. A memorial service was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington. Memorial gifts may be made to Lutheran World Relief, UNICEF, cancer-related associations, marcfirst, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra or Home Sweet Home Ministries. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; her sons, Christopher and Noah; and two brothers, DAVID MOSBO ‘73, Rochester, Minn., and THOMAS MOSBO ‘76, Consett, U.K. She was preceded in death by her father, ALTON MOSBO ’36. Patricia was a teacher who taught at Valparaiso University, Luther College, the University of Illinois-Chicago and Illinois State University; a librarian who worked at Northwestern University and Illinois State University; and an administrator who served as the original acting director of the general education program at Illinois State University. She held an undergraduate degree in English from Luther College and graduate degrees in English and library science from the University of Chicago. She was passionately devoted to her students and her calling as an educator, and was an avid patron of the Chicago Symphony.
