Russell Rossum, 1975

RUSSELL ROSSUM, 60, of Waverly, Iowa, died on Monday, October 1, 2012, at Allen Memorial Hospital. Russell was born on March 29, 1952, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Gordon and Anna (Kendall) Rossum. He grew up in Mason City, and graduated from Mason City High School in 1970. In 1975, he graduated from Luther College with a bachelor's degree in political science. Following graduation, he worked at Fred's Super Value in Waverly. He then worked in the food service department at Wartburg College, and finally for the Waverly-Shell Rock school district. He was a school bus driver and a custodial assistant. In his free time, Russell enjoyed watching sports. His favorite teams were the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees and the New York Knicks. Russell is survived by a daughter, Rachel Rossum of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two sons, Aaron Rossum of Waverly, Iowa, and Peter Rossum of Fort Smith, Arkansas; one grandson, Tre Sills; sister, Mary Ann Rossum; and two brothers, Roger and Dennis Rossum. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Rossum. His body has been cremated, and a memorial service was held Oct. 6, 2012, at the Kaiser Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastor Nate Beam officiating.
