DOUGLAS JORDAN, son of Marlin and Lillian Jordan, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2012. He was 73. For the past year he had resided at the Siena Hills Memory Care facility in Henderson, Nevada. He suffered from dementia. Doug grew up in Spring Green, Wis., and lived in Washington, D.C., for 30 years. A man with keen interests and a strong, scientific mind, Doug designed and built race cars when living in Wisconsin. A prized possession was his 1969 Porsche 911, the mechanics of which he knew thoroughly. He was an excellent skier, taught skiing in Wisconsin, and made many trips to ski areas in the Rockies. He enjoyed devising and crafting innovative items in his woodworking shop. A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, Doug rooted for the team no matter where he lived. When living in Washington, he began riding horses, eventually owning and showing his much-loved dressage horses, Mooch and Emily. Doug had a beautiful tenor voice. He sang in the Nordic Choir at Luther College and enjoyed many years singing in the choir at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Washington, D.C. After moving to Nevada, he was welcomed into the community at New Song Church, Henderson, and looked forward to Sunday services there. Doug attended Luther and the University of Wisconsin, earning a master’s degree and nearing completion of a Ph.D. in physics. He taught high school science at Arena High School and Evansville High School and in Wisconsin before becoming a management trainer and consulted around the world. He purchased four small apartment buildings in the Washington, D.C., area, which he remodeled and managed as rentals. Doug was a kind, sensitive, gentle, and caring man. Beloved by all who knew him and shared his life, he is survived by his wife, Wendy Adler Jordan; daughter, Heather; sister and brother-in-law, LYNNE (JORDAN) ENERSON ’63 and Bradley Enerson; nephews Todd (Cindy) Enerson and Mark (Betsy) Enerson; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held at New Song Church on May 26, and Doug was interred at Vermont Lutheran Church, Black Earth, Wis., on July 14th. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011 (with a note to use the funds for research regarding dementia with Lewy bodies --DLB), or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, National Capital Chapter, 5845 Richmond Highway, Suite 800, Alexandria, VA 22303(with a note to use the funds for lymphoma research). Doug, and his sister, Lynne, established The Marlin and Lillian Jordan Music Scholarship at Luther College in honor of their parents in 2009.
