DOROTHY “DOTTIE” JOAN (HOLTAN) BYE of Milwaukee, died Sept. 14, 2012, age 74. Dorothy Joan Bye (September 6, 1938-September 14, 2012) Bye (nee Holtan), Dorothy (Dotty) Joan. Born into Eternal Life Friday, September 14, 2012. Age 74. Loving wife of the late William Bye. Beloved mother of Bill Bye and Julie (Kevin) Mathews. Proud grandmother of Owen and Cole. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Memorial gathering was held at KINGO LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1225 East Olive Street, Thursday, September 20. Private entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Dotty taught elementary school in the Maple Dale-Indian Hill School District for many years. She shared her love of children and teaching with her dear friends, the “Fabulous 5.” Fol1owing her retirement, she continued to volunteer in classrooms at Parkway Elementary School in Glendale. In addition to caring for children, Dotty, along with her husband, Bill, enjoyed the beauty of God's creation, and worked to preserve it by volunteering at the Schlitz Audubon Center. A long-time disciple at Kingo Lutheran Church, Dolly founded the Quilting ministry about 35 years ago and remained active in the ministry until her passing. Memorials may be made to the Schlitz Audubon Center and Parkway Elementary School.
