Clayton C. Hanson, 1947

CLAYTON C. HANSON, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center in Cedar Falls. He was born March 4, 1922 in Northwood, Iowa, the son of Chris and Milla (Holstad) Hanson. Clayton married Geraldine T. “Geri” Albertson on February 25, 1951 in Scarville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on February 2, 2005. Clayton was a 1940 graduate of Kensett High School, a 1942 graduate of Waldorf College, and a 1947 graduate of Luther College. He was a B-24 pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Clayton worked at the Cedar Falls Post Office for many years, retiring in 1979 as a clerk, and was an insurance agent at Danish Mutual Brummel-Madsen Insurance for thirty years, retiring in 2002. He also was a funeral service assistant at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home for many years. Clayton was a member of the Sons of Norway and volunteered at Cedar Valley Hospice. Survivors include a son, Bill Hanson, of Cedar Falls, two daughters, Casey (John) Reynolds and Christa Hanson, both of Cedar Falls, and two grandchildren, Brooke and Jackson Reynolds, both of Cedar Falls; two nephews, Danny (Devra) Hanson of Battle Lake, Minnesota, and Eric Hanson of Des Moines, Iowa. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents and wife, three brothers, Harvey and Vernon Hanson, and a brother in infancy, and two sisters, Lillian and Ruby Hanson. Services were held October 20, 2012, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.
