Kenneth Winwood, 1943

KENNETH WINWOOD, 89, of Alexander passed away on June 28, 2012, at the Comfort House in Pella, Iowa. Ken farmed for many years in the Alexander area. He and his wife, Marcella, recently moved to Pella to be close to their children and resided at Vriendschap Village. Funeral services were held July 2, 2012, at Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond. Burial was at the Alexander cemetery following a time of fellowship at the Belmond United Methodist Church. Kenneth Albert Winwood was born Sept. 15, 1922, to Charles and Bessie (Yaw) Winwood. He attended Alexander school and Luther College in Decorah. On March 7, 1945, he was united in marriage to his wife, Marcella, and together they worked the family farm. After retirement they continued to enjoy country living and remained there until moving to Pella in 2009. Ken was a member of the Alexander United Methodist Church. He loved all nature and enjoyed traveling the countryside with Marcella. An avid hunter since boyhood, he brought home pheasants shooting with his friends and participating in the state tournaments. Those Ken leaves behind to honor his memory are his wife of 66 years, Marcella; son, David of Williamsburg; daughter, Gloria (Julio) Chiarella of Pella; grandson Greg (Denise) Fink; granddaughters Jennifer (Shawn) Allen and RACHEL (WINWOOD) BECKER ‘06 (KEITH BECKER ‘05); great-grandchildren Dylan Fink, Rachel (Robbie) Kromminga, Jacob, Hannah and Zoe Allen, and Owen and Reid Becker; great-great grandchildren Bridget, Alexa, and Olivia Kromminga; brother-in-law Bill (Jerri) Rozevink; special family members Karin Winwood; Maria Carla and Julio A.
