Richard Savre, 1943

RICHARD SAVRE, age 91, of Faribault, Minn., died on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at District One Hospital, Faribault. Memorial services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Faribault, on August 27, 2012, with Interment at Cyrus South Cemetery, Cyrus, Minnesota. Arrangements were completed by the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault. Richard, the son of Oscar and Hannah (Mellem) Savre, was born November 25, 1920 in Joice, Iowa. Richard graduated from Cyrus High School in 1938 and Luther College in 1943. He married Avis Estensen on September 4, 1943 in Cyrus. He was a CPA and was employed by Nutting Truck and Caster Company, Faribault. Richard was recognized as an Unsung Hero by the Faribault Daily News for his volunteer financial expertise at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Avis; four children: SUSAN (SAVRE) ASHLAND ‘66 (and DICK ASHLAND ‘64) of Fridley, Minn., RUSS SAVRE ’68 of Durham, N.C., PAUL SAVRE ‘73 (and NANCY (FREDRICKSON) SAVRE ‘73) of Eagan, Minn., and JOHN SAVRE ’75 of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, including ELIZABETH (ASHLAND) DESUTTER ’91, RYAN ASHLAND ’94, and JESSICA (SAVRE) CARNEY ‘01; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Savre and a sister, Exilona Savre. Memorial gifts may be directed to Lutheran Social Services or the donor’s choice.
