ADOLPH "BUCK" I. and DORIS "SKIP" A. BUCKNEBERG, Both 100, of Hot Springs Village died on August 03, 2012 and August 12, 2012. Buck was born July 25, 1912 to the late Adolf and Ida Buckneberg in Lignite, N.D., and Skip was born July 18, 1912 to the late Zachariah and Geneva Erickson in Jones County, Iowa. After seventy-five years of marriage, they passed away only nine days apart. Buck served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following the war he obtained his master’s degree in music and spent his career as a high school music teacher. One of Buck’s highlights in his music career was being in a male quartet that was the opening act for Mr. Mickey Rooney in his USO shows. Skip, also obtained her bachelor’s degree in music and was the first woman to graduate from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Using her degree she went on to be a music, and vocal teacher. Buck is also known for playing the organ in many silent movies. They were devoted and active members at Christ Lutheran Church in Hot Springs Village. Buck is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, DORIS (ERICKSON) BUCKNEBERG ’35. Skip is preceded in death by her parents. They were preceded in death by a daughter, KRISTI (BUCKNEBERG) KUH ’69. Buck and Skip are survived one son, ERIC BUCKNEBERG ’65, and wife, Karen, of Hot Springs Village; Buck's two sisters, Vola Zander of Bismarck, N.D., and Arlene Yudstie of Seaside, Ore.; Skip’s two sisters, ELOISE (ERICKSON) KLINKER ’48, and her husband, Ralph, of Tucson, Ariz.; and ZOLA (ERICKSON) RUNNING ’37, of Decorah; and their two loving grandchildren, Kari and KRIS KUH ’97. A memorial service was held Sept. 12, 2012, with Rev. Jim Burns officiating at Good Samaritan Chapel and a private inurnment service at Christ Lutheran Church. They were members of The Legacy Trust and President’s Council at Luther College.
