Ruth E. (Anderson) Rohm, 1950

Ruth E. Rohm, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Aug. 13, at Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities.

She was born May 29, 1923, in Williams, daughter of Jake and Nora Anderson. She married Marvin Rohm ’43, on July 31, 1948, in Lake Mills.

Mrs. Rohm earned her Certificate in Education from Luther and graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse, then taught elementary school in Cedar Falls for many years.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Eric (Tina) of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Kathleen Rohm of House Springs, Mo., and Nikki Rohm of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Margaret Gabriel.

Services were at the Western Home Communities Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial fund will be established for a teaching scholarship at UNI in her memory.
