Ruth Berger

Ruth Berger has been teaching teaching Mathematics at Luther since 1993. She is originally from Germany and holds a Vordiplom from Universität des Saarlandes. She attended graduate school at Louisiana State University, where she received a Ph.D. in mathematics in 1988. Her first teaching position was at Memphis State University (now University of Memphis), before she decided to move to a Liberal Arts environment.

At Luther she teaches all levels of Mathematics; her favorite courses are Geometry, Abstract Algebra, and Elementary Number Theory. While her 1990's publications were mathematical research articles in the area of her dissertation, her publications since coming to Luther have been focused on topics applicable to the undergraduate classroom. In particular, they describe learning tools that she developed for her Abstract Algebra and Geometry classes.
