Dear Member of the Class of 1963,

It’s late February. I’m sitting on our patio in Palm Springs, Calif., enjoying the clear skies, the sunshine, the warm temperatures, and our view of the powerful San Jacinto Mountains. Some of you are in warm places, too, and some of you are where it is cold and snowy. Wherever you are, greetings! I hope this finds you and yours well and happy.

The song lyrics say it all: “May our thoughts to thee oft turn, when we’re absent far away. May we then sincerely yearn to return to thee someday.”

That “someday” for us is Homecoming 2018, when we gather for our 55-year class reunion. Mark your calendars for October 26-28, 2018. Treat yourself. Plan to return. You won’t regret it. Also, as many of you know, Thursday, March 8, was Luther's third annual Giving Day! Thousands tuned in to an all-day livestream from Marty's and joined the fun through social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and more). The Decorah community continues to receive accolades and national recognition as a dynamic, welcoming and preferred place to visit and to live. The positive Decorah-Luther College relationship is legendary.

The scenic beauty of the region, the bike trails, the vibrant business district, the annual Nordic Fest (July 26 – 28) and, of course, the world class Vesterheim Norwegian–American Museum are the iconic staples.
