An essay on Luther alumnus and bookman Ernest Espelie has now been published on the LIS website, linked to Special Collections under the heading "Preus Library Information." Espelie, who had a long career as the Special Collections Librarian at Augustana College (Rock Island), was also a generous donor of important books to the Luther College Library. The many first edition Caldecott winner children's books which he donated are in the Rare Book Room. While Espelie was a student at Luther, he was a Chips editor, helping to build the newspaper into an award-winning college newspaper. The Special Collections librarian at the Thomas Tredway Library of Augustana College provided significant information for this project.
