Operational Reporting – Paul introduced the idea behind the reporting process to be implemented in our meetings this summer. We will routinely give operational reports on important processes and projects, focusing on how they do/will create value, and what metrics we can use to sense change. Ryan will share a Google Doc with meeting attendees to begin to brainstorm key projects and processes, and the group will continue to discuss at future meetings.

Liaison Work – Andi shared that a tentative list of department heads is now available from the Dean’s office. Librarians can reach out to their liaison departments to introduce themselves, with the note that there are still a few departments for which the head has not yet been finalized. Also, the possibility of creating a new role within KATIE for librarians was discussed.

Collection Development – Discussion continued on the process of allocating the library’s materials budget.

Announcement – The Archives was awarded a $230,000 grant from the NHPRC to host the Archives Leadership Institute from 2013-2015. The program will gather 25 archivists each year for a week-long intensive training on campus that will include presentations by experts in advocacy, project management, digital challenges, and human resources.
