High Placement Rates

  • Within 8 months of graduating, more than 98 percent of May 2018 graduates reported being employed, continuing their education, or not intentionally seeking employment (90.7 percent survey response rate).
  • 86.1 percent of our most recently polled graduates (class of 2018) reported they were very satisfied or satisfied with their primary activity after graduation.

Academics

  • 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio with an average class size of 19.
  • 95 percent of full-time faculty have a doctorate or the highest degree in their field.
  • 8 Rhodes Scholars, including two since 2000 and the most recent in 2013.

  • Dozens of students are fully funded each summer to participate in full-time research and creative collaborations with faculty.
  • Luther is a Phi Beta Kappa institution, an honor belonging to only 10 percent of colleges and universities nationwide.

Affordability

  • 98 percent of our students receive some form of financial assistance.
  • 75 percent of Luther students are employed on campus.
  • Our loan default rate is an astonishingly low 2.2 percent, compared with 11.5 percent nationwide (source: U.S. Department of Education’s College Affordability and Transparency Center). Not only do we keep a college education affordable, but our graduates also find quick gainful employment.

An Accomplished, Well-Rounded Student Body

  • 43 percent of Luther students participate in at least one music ensemble; 27 percent compete on one or more of the college’s 19 intercollegiate teams; and 44 percent play intramural sports.
  • 90 percent of students live on campus, which creates a vibrant and engaged campus community.
  • 22 percent of Luther students graduate with a double major.
  • 32 percent come from the top tenth of their high school class.

A Global Perspective

  • Luther students come from 74 countries and 39 states.
  • Each year, between 400-500 Luther students study abroad, ranking Luther among the top baccalaureate colleges in the nation for the percentage of students who study abroad prior to graduation—over two-thirds.
  • Luther has semester and yearlong programs in Nottingham, England; Münster, Germany; Coldigioco, Italy; and Sliema, Malta. We offer J-term classes in dozens of countries, and students also have the opportunity to enroll in study-abroad programs through partnering institutions in additional locations.
  • Davis Projects for Peace: at least 1 winner per year since its inception.
  • Our 31,600 alumni live in more than 80 countries.
