As an active performer in many musical genres, I find it exciting to share my experiences with my students. While most students understand that musical proficiency is absolutely essential, many do not realize that there are many factors that determine one's success in the performance world. I consider it to be part of my role as educator to impart some of this knowledge, in addition to fundamental musical training.

I've performed with several luminaries of jazz, including Ray Charles, Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, and others. In addition, I have the good fortune to perform in the pit orchestras of numerous touring Broadway shows. Recent ones include La Cage aux Folles, West Side Story, Nine to Five, Chicago. I welcome the opportunity to share my anecdotes of these experiences with my students.

Each student arrives at my studio with particular goals in mind. My job is to show each student how to achieve those personal goals. I assign very specific practice strategies for every concept that musicians need to master. Naturally, the materials that we cover include the fundamentals of good musicianship. Beyond that, the individual goals of the student will determine the choice of repertoire.
