Our students are encouraged to explore the arts in the Decorah area. There are many opportunities to work with local artists, exhibit artwork, and take part in events.

ArtHaus

ArtHaus in downtown Decorah offers programs and professional instruction for students of all ages. ArtHaus hosts free and low-cost events throughout the year. Events include film showings, poetry slams, gallery openings, wine tastings, live music, and more. Our students are involved with ArtHaus through classes, exhibitions, volunteering and internship opportunities.

Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum

The Vesterheim Norwegian American Museum in Decorah is a museum and a cultural center. The museum offers classes and events throughout the year. Luther’s art history classes make use of the Vesterheim collections. Admission is free for Luther Students.

Minneapolis Museums

The many art museums in the Twin Cities are often a destination for art program trips. Between the Walker Art Center, Weisman Art Museum, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Northern Clay Center, Minneapolis has several renowned art institutions.
