Library Services Meeting Minutes 7/25/2012

Metrics:
Jennifer is collecting various historical statistics regarding building use. She will be examining the data to determine past trends and future possibilities for library initiatives.

Projects:
The Better World Books Pilot is well underway. The books sent by Preus Library for the pilot project have been received by Better World Books.

The Social Media team has been meeting. Members of the team will provide content for Google+, Facebook, and Twitter.

The Fine Arts Collection database will be available through a web based open source product. The project has been delivered and is close to completion. The next step for the project is the public interface.

The Anthropology Collection database conversion project is ongoing.

Orientation activities:
Germano, Andi, and Paul have met with staff from the Diversity Center to determine a schedule for library orientation for international students.

Liaisons will meet with new faculty during the coffee break during new faculty orientation on Aug. 23.

Writing Center:
Paul has met with Martin Klammer, the Writing Center Director. There is a new, improved calendar in place to schedule the tutoring sessions. There have also been discussions about how to improve integration between tutors and research help staff.

Paideia:
The Open Unit for Paideia will be Sept. 17- Sept. 28. Germano will share the list of books/topics that the instructors have chosen.

History Day:
Outreach to schools in the Keystone AEA district is being planned. J. Wilkie will contact AEA personnel.

Other:
We will meet to gather our own tips on power searching in Google.
