Off the Mat at Luther College

Teaching

In addition to being Luther's Head Wrestling Coach, I get the good fortune of teaching Mathematics. My office is in the Mathematics Department at 323 Olin Hall.

I enjoy the interaction I have with Luther students and Luther student-athletes via the classes I teach. For the past few years, I often teach two sections of Introduction to Statistics in the fall semester, but also teach sections of Precalculus with Derivatives, Part I, and Mathematics In Our World.

Having an office in Olin gives me the advantage of seeing our wrestlers during the day off the mat. To me, success in athletics and success in academics are achieved the same way: the harder you work, the more success you have. I believe 'A's' are earned every day, not just on test day, just like NCAA Titles are won every day, not just on the day of the NCAA Finals.  I have always enjoyed the challenge of working hard in both arenas to be successful and I emphasize that with our team and family.

Committees

I have served on a number of boards and search committees at Luther, including

  • The Campus Interpersonal Violence Hearing Board
  • VP for Development Search Committee
  • VP for Enrollment Search Committee
  • VP for Student Life Search Committee
  • Head Men's Basketball Search Committee
